Your 2013 Draft

Most of the time, people who play fantasy baseball generally follow the rule that no catcher should be taken in the first round. The thought process is that they take too many games off, plus they are susceptible to injuries. Of course, when people are thinking about that rule in fantasy baseball 2013, they are probably ignoring it when they see the production of Buster Posey.

The reigning National League MVP was dominant last season, helping the Giants get their second World Series ring in three seasons along the way. He is that rare catcher on a team who can also hit in the middle of the lineup and post a high batting average along with power. Most impressive is he has decent wheels as well, meaning he is the whole package for fantasy baseball 2013.

As great as Posey is, he has already had some injuries in the past that ruined his production for extended periods of time. The Giants are looking to give him more games at first base to preserve his bat, but he will still be behind the dish quite a bit in fantasy baseball 2013.

When people consider drafting Posey, they should think about him towards the end of the first round, or very early second round. He is not in that top, top tier in the first few overall picks. However, he is so much better than anyone else at his position, so that has to be good for something, right?

Posey and the Giants are trying to gear up for yet another World Series run, so he has to be healthy to give them a chance. He might be one of the most valuable players in baseball right now for his offense and defense, so they can’t afford to lose his services any time soon.
